Treasure Island Review

Sole City Dance’s production of Treasure Island was absolutely breathtaking. The combination of music, lighting, and beautiful choreography told the story vividly. Having not read the classic tale prior to seeing the show, I was worried I would not be able to follow along, but the storyline was clear from the start. Instantly, I was captivated by the music; it was intense and exciting. As each character was introduced, my intrigue grew more. The specific expressions and movement of each character clearly depicted their role in the story. Each scene segmented nicely into the next, and witnessing each character grow throughout the show kept me on the edge of my seat. Above all, the dancing was remarkable. The choreography was alluring. It was simultaneously powerful and elegant. Each dancer was showcased nicely, and they made the intricate movements look effortless. Being a former member of Sole City Dance, this production reminded me of why I love dance and the thrill of performing so much. The immense amount of hard work that went into creating this production shined through. Treasure Island is a beautiful ballet that captures an adventurous story filled with pirates and mermaids, and it shares the message of what is truly important in life. It was a magical show, and I hope to see it take the stage again. 

Dance Picture Day

Dance pictures will take place on Sunday, May 21st. We will release the picture day schedule with the next packet on May 1st.

SCD App

We now have an SCD APP! This is an easy way to register for classes, find newsletters, receive notifications, and submit absences. All last-minute notifications will come through the app we will no longer use text notifications. Be sure to download the SCD App, activate your account, and turn on notifications. You may get a surprise notification at the end of the week so don’t wait!

The SCD App is available in the Apple Store and Google Play.

Dance Concert Info Packet #2 has been posted on the website. You’ll find the cast listing for the shows, the dress rehearsal schedule, and other important information. We highly recommend reading through all the information, printing it out, and highlighting the parts that pertain to your dancer.

Dance Concert Ticket Sales/Volunteers Still Needed!

Dance Concert tickets go on sale starting Saturday, April 15th at midnight.

All Seats: $20 per ticket for one show or $33 per ticket for both shows. Tickets must be purchased online no tickets will be sold at the door. Seating is reserved.

Please note the following ticket policies and helpful hints for purchasing: 

• Anyone over the age of 2 must have a ticket for their own seat per the fire department. 

• Students dancing in one Young Children’s or Youth Level 1-2 class in only ONE dance receive a free ticket for themselves to watch the half of the show that they are not in. Students in multiple classes won’t have a free ticket because they will be in both halves of the show. Teens/Tweens will sit as a large group in the audience and will not get a free ticket code.

• Promo codes for these student tickets will be posted on your account under your student’s resources section by Friday, April 14th. If you are unsure where the student resources are located in the portal, this link will show you where to find them. The document will include the code and tell you how many tickets it is good for. If you have multiple dancers or have signed up to volunteer you get one code for the correct amount of tickets needed. We have posted the same document under all the dancer’s resources. When entering the code be sure to not put any spaces before or after otherwise it will not work.

• We recommend that you plan ahead and purchase your tickets all at one time so you can keep your group together. 

• Tickets are non-refundable so make sure you are purchasing them for the correct show.

• If you’d like to earn free admission, sign up to be a volunteer! See the info on the studio bulletin board. **Please note all Youth and Young Children’s classes MUST have an adult volunteer to watch them backstage. If you sign up to volunteer, you will be emailed a promo code for your free ticket which MUST be entered online when you purchase your tickets. Any additional volunteers who signed up after 4/9 will receive their code on Friday, April 14th. We’ll send out codes every Friday for any new volunteer sign-ups.

We are also still looking for dressing room check-in/check-out.

All backstage volunteer jobs require a background check on file with the studio. All forms need to be returned to the front desk by Friday, April 14th filled out and notarized. So we can mail them into the state and get them back before the show. Blank background check forms are located on the table by the bulletin board in the waiting room.
