Recital FAQ’s

Do I need to print my ticket? Or can I just show it on my phone?

It would be helpful to the ushers if you print all your tickets. However, if you are unable to print your tickets make sure to take a screenshot of each ticket and have it ready to show the ushers. This will make the process of getting everyone into the auditorium faster.

Do I need to purchase a ticket to the recital?

Yes, anyone ages 2+ needs to purchase a ticket. Dancers in one Young Children’s or Youth Level 1-2 class in only ONE dance receive a free ticket for themselves to watch the other half of the show that they are not in. Students in multiple classes won’t have a free ticket because they will be in both halves of the show. Students only in one dance in a Youth or Teen Level 3+ will be seated as a group in the audience with a volunteer. As long as we have open seats.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

All tickets are sold online and the cell service/internet for devices is not great at the venue their public wifi can be spotty too. To avoid frustrations we suggest purchasing tickets ahead of time. There will not be cash tickets sold at the door. The first show currently only has 190 seats left.

Will there be a program?

Yes, we will have a small number of printed programs. You can also view the digital program online.

I have a background check on file with the studio and want to volunteer. Do you still need help?

Yes, we are looking for folks who have a background check on file to help with check-in and dressing-room assistance. We are looking for one more usher for the 1 pm show. You can sign up for any of these jobs at the studio.

I need help putting my child’s hair in a bun. Will there be someone to help on the day of the show? Do I need to sign up ahead of time?

Yes, we have a bun boutique and no you don’t need to sign up ahead of time. Bring your child at the appropriate call time and a backstage volunteer can do their hair. Make sure to send a hairbrush, hair ties, hair net, bobby pins, and hairspray or gel.

Can we leave right after my child dances?

No, all dancers in the first half of the show get dismissed at intermission and all dancers in the second half of the show get dismissed at the end of the show. Please review the drop-off and pick-up policies for the day of the show.

I want to get my dancer flowers will those be available for sale?

Absolutely! We do recommend pre-ordering to make sure you get what you want you can do so here.

Can I film during the show? Will there be a recording available?

We ask they you do not film during the show as it’s distracting to your fellow audience members and to the dancers. We will have a digital download available for sale after the show. It will be located in our Digital Download Store on the website a couple of weeks after the show.

Does my dancer need to wear their hair, makeup, and costume like the show for dress rehearsal?

Yes, dress rehearsal is a practice for the show so wear your costume, hair, and makeup how you are supposed to for the show.

When we arrive for dress rehearsal and the show should my dancer have their costume on?

Yes, please arrive fully in costume with an oversized shirt over the costume to protect it and with makeup on and hair done. If you need bun help that is fine just make sure makeup is done and costume is on.

Fall Evaluations

Evaluations and level recommendations have been posted to student resources or listed under the student skills section.

All Dance Explore, all Dance Works, Lil’ Hip Hoppers, Ballet Prim, Modern Mini’s, Teen Modern 1/2, Jazz Mini’s and Lil’ Tappers recommendations are posted in your student’s skill section. Log into your portal either online or on the app, click My Account, scroll down and you’ll see your students listed (if they aren’t there click on the three lines in the upper right hand corner and click Account), click View next to the student, and then click Skills, scroll down and click on View Skill Details for the class you are viewing.

All other classes will have their evaluations uploaded to the student resources. Follow the same directions as above but instead of clicking on Skills click Resources, and click View Resource for the class.

I’m hoping to post the fall schedule within the next few weeks. Fall registration will open around July 1st. Possibly sooner if you have your app downloaded.

**We are still working on getting Miss Jacqui’s class evaluations completed and uploaded. We’ll message those classes via the app once they are done.

 

Level Changes for the Fall

We are re-organizing the class levels to align better with the ABT levels. If you notice your placement for the fall is the same or lower than this past year don’t get caught up on it. You will still be with the correct group and progressing forward. All styles will end at level 5.

 

Summer dance and our June Pop-ups are great ways to continue your training or try a new style. We offer 3 weeks of individual classes during the month of June. The remainder of the summer we offer classes, camps, and intensives. Our summer class session runs for 5 weeks it begins Monday, July 10th, and runs until Thursday, August 10th.

SCD App

We now have an SCD APP! This is an easy way to register for classes, find newsletters, receive notifications, and submit absences. All last-minute notifications will come through the app we will no longer use text notifications. Be sure to download the SCD App, request a code to activate your account, click My Account, and log in using your portal credentials.

The SCD App is available in the Apple Store and Google Play.
