We are in the final few weeks of classes before recital. This newsletter has lots of end-of-year information in it so please read through it all and do your best to not miss any classes between now and the show!

ABT Placement Class

The next ABT Placement class is Saturday, May 20th. You must register ahead of time.

The ABT Placement class is for students looking to move to the next level or students new to the ballet program at SCD. If you are moving from Dance Works 2 into ballet you do not need to take a placement class you will register for ABT Primary. If you are a current ABT Primary student your instructor will recommend for you to either stay in Primary or move to level 1a. Students currently in an ABT level 1 class or above will need to take the placement class to move to the next level. We are currently adding faculty recommendations to your student resources in the portal. Make sure you have the app downloaded and activated as we will notify you using the app once they have been posted.

1:45-3:15 for students currently level ABT 2b+

3:45-5:00 for students currently level ABT 1a, 1b, 2a or new to SCD

Join us for 3-weeks of pop-up classes and workshops! We will be offering individual intro classes in a variety of the styles we offer along with upper-level workshops for any dancer! All classes are open to SCD students and non-SCD students. Check out the schedule below by style or click register now to see the list of class options along with descriptions. Please register 48 hours before the class you’d like to take. If we don’t have enough enrollment at that time we’ll need to cancel the class.

Costumes Going Home

Dance costumes are being sent home this week and next. We are waiting on tights for some costumes so those will be sent home next week. Each class will have a Performance Appearance Sheet posted to the class resources in the portal by Monday, May 8th. This sheet will tell you how hair should be done, hair piece if applicable needs to go, if you need to purchase tights, makeup or if costumes need any tweaking.

Dance Picture Day

Dance pictures will take place on Sunday, May 21st at SCD. You can find the picture day schedule here.

SCD App

We now have an SCD APP! This is an easy way to register for classes, find newsletters, receive notifications, and submit absences. All last-minute notifications will come through the app we will no longer use text notifications. Be sure to download the SCD App, activate your account, and turn on notifications.

The SCD App is available in the Apple Store and Google Play.

Dance Concert Info Packet #3 has been posted on the website. This is the final information packet. It has Tips for a smooth show, and reminders for before, after, and during the show, drop-off and pick-up procedures, order of dress rehearsal, order of the shows, order of picture day, star messages, bake sale sign-up, and recital flowers. We highly recommend reading through all the information, printing it out, and highlighting the parts that pertain to your dancer.
