We are getting ready to open up fall registration but I wanted to bring up some updates and changes that will be happening this fall.

• The dance year will begin Tuesday, September 3rd, and will run until Friday, May 30th with the dance concert being the weekend of May 31st and June 1st.

• Our dance year will now run on a 34-week calendar instead of 35. All classes are scheduled to meet 34 times during the dance year.

• Due to the shorter year if you opt to pay tuition in installments the annual tuition has been broken into 9 installments due on the 10th of each month.

• We have also changed our multi-class discounts to allow for the system to automatically take them into account when registering vs me having to manually apply them to each account at the beginning of the year. Discounts are now per class. They should align closely to what we used to use. You can find the updated tuition rates and discounts on the website.

• When registering please be sure to read through all the policies. We have updated many of them and I don’t want you to be surprised with anything once the year gets started.

I’m still working on getting a few more things updated and setting the general calendar but that should be all set before registration opens. When fall registration opens we will send out a notification via the app. Be sure to have it downloaded and activated!

If you are a returning aerial student be sure to check your class recommendation and register for the exact class option you were given. We have limited spots in aerial classes so the recommendations given allow for each returning student to have a spot in a class that is appropriate for their level. If you have an issue with the time of the class that was given to you let Alex know ASAP. If you are unsure of how to find your eval see the section in this email about class evals.

Summer classes and camps are all open for registration. Classes begin Monday, July 8th. If you are planning on registering be sure to do so before July 1st. We will make decisions on any classes with not enough enrollment on that date. If you want to take something be sure to sign up now!

Fall Class Recommendations and Evals have been uploaded to the student's resources in the portal. All aerial and acro classes will have an eval and class placement in the resources. All ballet students will either have an eval or just a recommendation for the fall depending on their current level. 

Dance with Me, Dance Explore, Dance Works, Lil' Tappers, Modern Mini's, Lil' Hip Hoppers and Jazz Mini's will not have evals or class recommendations in the student resources. Those students will just take the class in the style of their choosing for their age. If you have aged out of Dance Works and you'd like to continue with ballet you'd sign up for an ABT Prim class. If you'd like to continue with tap, you'd sign up for Lil' Tappers. If you'd like to take another style, you'd just find the class that fits their age. Ages for classes are based on the student's age 30 days after the dance year begins. 

If you took a Youth or Teen level 1 or 1/2 this past year and you do not have a recommendation, please let us know and we will help you choose the best class for the fall. 

We work hard to group students in classes where they will thrive and help them continue to build a strong foundation in the style of their choosing. This will help ensure they have a long dance life!

In case you are unsure of how to access your dancer's resources follow these steps exactly:

To access your dancer’s resources, you’ll need to log into the portal via the app or website, click on account, click on the three lines (menu) in the upper right-hand corner, click account again, scroll down until you see your dancer’s name, click view, then click resources and then click on the resource title Evals or Class Recommendation.

You can now access the digital recordings from the dance concert. They are located in the online store on the website.

SCD App

We now have an SCD APP! This is an easy way to register for classes, find newsletters, receive notifications, and submit absences. All last-minute notifications will come through the app we will no longer use text notifications. Be sure to download the SCD App, request a code to activate your account, click My Account, and log in using your portal credentials.

The SCD App is available in the Apple Store and Google Play.
